Act Now to Stop Animal Testing for Cosmetics in the U.S.

stop cosmetics animal testing in US

Even though animal testing for cosmetics is not required by law in the U.S, a current bill sitting before a congressional committee could make tests on animals for cosmetics ingredients mandatory. Luckily, huge AR organizations like PETA and Leaping Bunny have been all over this since day one.

Supporterss of the Safe Cosmetics and Personal Care Products Act of 2013 claim to be acting to protect public health, but animal testing is not indicative of real, useful data (i.e. humans, mice, bunnies, etc. have different physiologies). There are so many alternative testing methods that are cruelty-free, less expensive, and WAY more accurate. If the Safe Cosmetics and Personal Care Products Act of 2013 passes as it is currently written, as many as 11.5 million animals would be killed in product tests in the first 10 years alone.

And According to PETA, animals could be in even more danger: “The cosmetics industry trade group, the Personal Care Products Council, has been negotiating for months with the FDA on possible changes to regulatory testing requirements. The most recent draft of the proposed regulations, if accepted, may also open the door to more tests on animals.”

Please click here to let your congressional representatives, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Personal Care Products Council know that you support a full ban on animal tests for cosmetics. C’mon people, we can do this! xoxo
